On August 23rd at 1:00 p.m., we will be installing our long awaited Peace Pole. If you are willing to help dig, level, pour concrete, or cheer others who are, then please join us! We will meet near the sign on the lawn of our church. If you have questions, contact Hank Zeniewicz at 989.854.8176 or hank.zeniewicz@gmail.com. The dedication of the Peace Pole will be held on September 14th.
Please join me in saying THANK YOU to the many people who helped with the Intergenerational Coffeehouse a couple of Saturdays ago! Card tables were loaned by: Annette Pratt, Gisela & Tom Moffit, Joe Cleveland, Victoria Sladek, Norma Bailey, and Cynthia Damer. Yummy treats were made and contributed by: the McNerny family, Swier Family, Shawn & AJ McKeever, Kris Los, Liz Dealing, Gisela Moffit, Victoria Sladek, Annette Pratt, and Terry Tribe. Set up and clean up crews of: Annette Pratt, Gisela Moffit, Norma Bailey, K’ana Degen, Susan Powers, and Jen Prout (& Friend).
The acts were remarkable and enjoyed by all! I was struck by the variety and creativity of our performers 6-60+ years of age. Young violinists from Illinois performed in addition to scores of local talent. Such stage presence and interstate participation! The Broadway critics and audience members demand more! Special thanks to Ivory Griffin for his beautiful Coffeehouse banner he crafted for us! Additional thanks to the remarkable junior emcees of the evening's events: Izzy Rollins and Roman Damer-Daigle! See you next year! ~ Laura McBride With the coffeehouse just a couple of weeks away, consider participating by bringing a snack or sweet, setting up, cleaning up, or performing! If you want to see more than 5-6 acts by kids and adults, sign up! If you want to help set up the sanctuary, or put it back together, sign up! If you want to bring a tasty savory or sweet, sign up! If you want to be a part of the audience, show up! You get the idea! Sign up forms will be available in the fellowship hall on the table by the east wall this Sunday, February 2. Please help make this coffeehouse a success and SIGN UP! Your cabin-fevered maven, Laura McBride.
It’s time to shake off the winter blues by participating in the UUFCM’s Intergenerational Coffee House Night, Saturday, February 15th at 7:00 p.m.! We are hoping that you will share your talent of music, song, writing, acting, magic, juggling, acrobats, comedy, and/or storytelling. There are probably other things that could be performed but this writer is not very imaginative. Please sign up at church or send an email to me with the name of the participant(s), name of the act (if you have one), and the type of performance it is (singing, poetry reading, musical instrument, pantomime) to assist in setting up the order of performers. If you are willing to help set up, clean up, or bring some snacks, sign up sheets will be available as well. You have a whole month to plan and prepare! Please contact the Social Maven with questions or to sign up at 989.772.5512 or lmcbride010@gmail.com.
